15 Greatest Opening Credit Sequences In Movies

8. Catch Me If You Can

Catch Me If You Can is one of Steven Spielberg's most impressive and criminally overlooked films, following the bizarre and extraordinary story of imposter and fraudster Frank Abagnale Jr. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Christopher Walken, Amy Adams and Martin Sheen, it's a film deserving of a good re-watch.

Though much of the film is technically brilliant - from the jumps through the years to the dialogue, from the acting to the action - it is the opening credits that is the film's most effective aspect.

Over a catchy tune courtesy of John Williams, the sequence presents itself as a colourful cartoon following a figure moving between being a pilot, a doctor and a lawyer (like Frank), with an FBI agent always one step behind. Effectively, the opening is giving away the entire plot, but thanks to the bursts of colour it uses, the great score behind it, and the imagery mirroring Saul Bass' legendary opening sequences from the '60s, it's an intro you can't help but admire.
