10. Battle Royale II: Requiem

The Devil Inside
Toei Company

The Plot:

Following the original Battle Royale, the main survivor is now a terrorist. Some new Battle Royale recruits are sent to the island where he's based to kill him in a new game.

Why It Sucks:

Is this one really as bad as people say? Oh yes.

In this one, the main heroes are Al Qaeda-style extremists fighting against the Japanese government is response to the BR program. This same group is also responsible for a 9/11 style attack and this movie came out only two years after 9/11.

What were they thinking?!

It is staggering that anyone thought it was appropriate to glamorize this kind of terrorism, so the film is horrendously offensive and uncomfortable from the beginning, but it gets worse.

This is everything the first Battle Royale wasn't. The acting is ghastly, the editing is headache-inducing, the action is tedious and the story is utterly devoid of any dramatic weight, making this a technically awful film in every manner conceivable.

This is nothing more than a bunch of immature people trying to be as controversial as possible. Worst of all, since it's such a bad continuation it basically ruins the original.
