If there's a movie franchise that's dominated the 2010s which hasn't featured any costumed heroes or Robert Downey Jr, it's - unfathomably - Fast and Furious. The street-racing series was virtually dead before the fourth movie (but especially the fifth) brought it back from the brink in a major way, to the tune of billions at the box-office.

After sitting out the last two entries, Justin Lin is back in the directing chair for the final two films, in order to round off the franchise he transformed into a box-office monster. It's on a short hiatus at the moment as Universal gears up to start filming on the two-parter finale, but considering the first instalment is slated to hit theatres in May 2020, marketing will have to start ramping up soon.

The reason it hasn't already is probably thanks to Hobbs & Shaw, the upcoming spin-off starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. With the main franchise ending, the studio is looking for ways to extend its life-span with spin-offs, and won't want to distract anyone from their first attempt with the "main event" that could overshadow it.
