15 Huge Controversies That Rocked Star Wars
9. Rogue One's Reshoots
Almost every major film has some degree of reshoots, which precisely nobody seemed to remember when news broke that LucasFilm were doing "significant" Rogue One reshoots that were set to change the tone of Gareth Edwards' vision.
Immediately, there were accusations of studio meddling, and of Edwards' not being allowed to do precisely what he'd been brought in to do - to make a wholly different Anthology film that stood apart from the mainline films. We were told he was making a war film, and the first trailer seemed to suggest as much.
But then the story went that LucasFilm got cold feet, decided not to be that brave and cut off Edwards' hands. Cue wailing in the streets of the Internet.
The irony, of course, is that Rogue One was brilliant, and very quickly LucasFilm were heralded as having "fixed" it. Despite nobody seeing the "original" cut.
