15 Huge Controversies That Rocked Star Wars

8. Karen Traviss Quits Over Death Threats

As a writer of some of the best-selling Star Wars EU books - like the Republic Commando series and Legacy Of The Force - Karen Traviss deserves to be considered one of Star Wars lore's great creative minds.

Unfortunately, she dared to change the canon, presenting Clones and Mandalorians as heroes, and the Jedi as petty and occasionally villainous. Somewhat inevitably, some fans took offence to someone messing with their favourites, wrote negative reviews of her books and petitioned George Lucas to stop her writing. Worse, Traviss also received rape and death threats, forcing her to retire from writing.

Proof, right there, that idiots don't deserve nice things.

It wasn't the only time death threats from the fan base hit the news; Fox News pundit Katherine Timpf made the "mistake" of joking on Twitter that she “wasn’t familiar with Star Wars because I’ve been too busy liking cool things and being attractive." Hilarious, but apparently worthy of death threats on Twitter from a bunch of crying windbag babies.
