Release Date: December 18 (US & UK) The Hype: Where to begin? It's the first Star Wars movie in a decade and the first since 1983's Return of the Jedi that might actually be great. J.J. Abrams (Super 8, Star Trek) directs, while legendary franchise screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan returns alongside iconic cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill (not to mention Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker and Peter Mayhew reprising their roles as C-3PO, R2-D2 and Chewie). As for the new cast, there's young newcomers Daisy Ridley and John Boyega as protagonists Rey and Finn, while the more recognisable cast members include Oscar Isaac (as the film's third protagonist, Poe Dameron), Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Gwendoline Christie, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong'o, Iko Uwais and Warwick Davis. And of course, John Williams is returning to provide the score. How Well Will It Do?: If even Attack of the freaking Clones can score 67% with critics, is there really and doubt that The Force Awakens will be a strong entry into the franchise? Box office success has been destined from the second it was announced (it may even break the coveted $2 billion mark), while technical nods at the Oscars are certain, though expecting it to win anything else is rather optimistic. Nostalgia could help net it a Best Picture nomination, though. Which still-to-come 2015 movies are you chomping at the bit to see? Shout them out in the comments!
