15 Most Disappointing Movies Of 2016

5. X-Men: Apocalypse

After the arguable franchise-high of Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse is just an incredibly by-the-numbers superhero film.

Despite the promise of a young new cast of talented actors and Oscar Isaac joining the fray as baddie Apocalypse, the film simply invited a feeling of, "Is that it?"

It was far too long, Sophie Turner gave a horrendous performance as Jean Grey, the plot beats felt repetitive and generic (Magneto gets lured to the dark side before being forgiven...again), the age of the characters makes no sense anymore, and the legendary Apocalypse was a massively underwhelming villain.

Oh, and Jennifer Lawrence was clearly only here for the money and to fulfill her contractual obligations: she looked like she wanted to be literally anywhere else for most of the movie.

Maybe it's time for the core X-Men franchise to take a few years off and just re-evaluate. But of course, that's not happening.
