12. The Conjuring 3

While some people might be close to experiencing serious franchise fatigue with the Conjuring shared universe (which also includes Annabelle, The Nun, La Llorana and The Crooked Man), you can't really doubt the success of it. It's relatively cheaply made, it does manage to pack in some solid scares and in the core cast of the originals - Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga - it has real acting ability.

Too often these movies - particularly when they get to the eighth instalment - trade down on casting (see Saw for MANY examples), because the gimmick trumps the victims. But Wilson and Farmiga are key to the horror, because they're the investigators and it adds a different element entirely. Plus, they're both great.

The next chapter's plot is unknown, but given the number of stories the Warrens were part of, there's lots of potential.
