15 Most Exciting Movies Coming In February 2020
10. Emma - February 14
Like Greta Gerwig's Little Women, the directorial debut of Autumn de Wilde is far from the first film to adapt Emma's original source material, from the explicit adaptation starring Gwyneth Paltrow, to the teen classic Clueless which modernised and altered key elements of the text. However, Emma is fantastic material to display the skills of upcoming actresses, with the hugely talented Anya Taylor-Joy taking on the role in this latest version.
Taylor-Joy's career to date has been fascinating, from towering performances in films like Glass, Split and The Witch, to baffling appearances in Playmobil the Movie and The Secret of Marrowbone. While she has a guaranteed future in genre cinema with her catalogue, she clearly has the range and talent to pull off comedy as shown by her work in the underrated Thoroughbreds.
While this is unlikely to incite the same passionate acclaim as something like Little Women, it should be a great spotlight for her abilities as a leading actress and an enjoyable experience for anyone who likes period dramas.
