15 Most Inappropriate Comic Book Movie Storylines Of All Time
4. Blade's Oedpial Complex
Admittedly, there are only symbolic Oedipal themes touched on in Hartigan and Nancy's scenes in Sin City. Blade actually does them for real. The forgotten modern Marvel movie, Blade actually had the publisher's earliest superhero adaptations – X-Men and Spider-Man – beat by a couple of years. It also remains awesome, despite some ropey sequels.
One thing Blade did that no other contemporary comic movie does (besides having a cast that's mainly people of colour) is really push the envelope in terms of sex, violence and cursing. Don't expect any entry in the MCU to be as R-rated as this. Also don't expect to see a scene where somebody's undead mother tries to hit on them.
Blade's whole deal is his mum got bitten by a vampire whilst pregnant, so he was born half-human, half-bloodsucker. He always believed his mother passed in childbirth, until it turns out she went full vamp, full evil, and gets weirdly sexual during their reunion. So, he penetrates her. With a stake. And she dies. Still, ew, Blade's got some issues.
