15 Most Inappropriate Comic Book Movie Storylines Of All Time
5. Hartigan's Relationship With Nancy In Sin City
Well, at least Booga and Tank Girl are of a comparable age. The love story at the centre of Sin City is a little different. In fact all the romances in Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's movie adaptations of the latter's comics are pretty dysfunctional, but absolutely the creepiest is the one between Bruce Willis's Hartigan and Jessica Alba's Nancy.
Cop Hartigan rescued Nancy from a kidnapper when she was a child, and felt a connection with her ever since. In flashbacks, that's shown to be a fatherly bond with the kid, who was orphaned and didn't have a great life before or since she was kidnapped. They meet again once she's all grown up, and now it's time to throw up a lot.
Nancy, obviously, harbours a crush on Hartigan. After all, he's the big strong man who saved her as a child! Hartigan, meanwhile, should absolutely not be aroused by watching somebody he first met as a small kid strip. But he does, and nobody even mentions the Freudian themes, let alone his breached duty of care. Shameful.
