15 Most Underrated Movies Of 2018

8. Maze Runner: The Death Cure

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 43% (5.1/10)

Critics painted the third and final entry into The Maze Runner franchise as just another generic Y.A. movie that brought little new or artful to the table, but that's just not true.

The Death Cure is certainly a touch too long at 142 minutes in length, but it's also an acceptable alternative to Fox needlessly splitting the final book into two glacially paced movies.

This singular capper to the series is a lightning-paced, ambitious Y.A. film which homages the Mad Max franchise with impressive style, largely thanks to surprisingly strong visual effects (considering its modest $62 million budget) and sharp direction from Wes Ball.

With its high-drama narrative and ludicrous array of action, this feels like the final word on Y.A. movies, honestly, and it's no coincidence that pretty much every attempt that's followed has bombed commercially if not also critically.
