14 Summer 2016 Films You Aren't Excited About (But Should Be)

4. Pete's Dragon

Release Date: August 12th (UK and US)

It's not hard to feel a little apathetic about this one right now. Disney appear hellbent on remaking all their old movies in live action, and the 1977 original wasn't much to write home about to begin with. Still, it wasn't that long ago that a live-action Jungle Book seemed a bit pointless, and look how well that's going down now; plus, the fact that the original Pete's Dragon wasn't that great means there's plenty of room for improvement here.

In any case, what we've seen thus far suggests a remake in name only. For starters it's set in modern day, as opposed to the turn of the century setting of the original; secondly, it would appear that director David Lowery is taking a slightly more grounded approach, meaning song-and-dance numbers look unlikely this time around. Instead, anticipate some ET-esque heartfelt bonding between boy and his otherworldy best friend.

Ben Bussey hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
