After returning from his capture at the hands of The Ten Rings, Tony Stark immediately sets out in search of an American-made burger. In the next scene, he's seen delving into a Burger King bag in what many regard as one of the laziest product placements ever inflicted on the viewing public. But there's actually more to it than that. While at the height of his drug-using spiral into self-destruction, Robert Downey, Jr. was driving across state in a car loaded with narcotics and felt a pang of hunger. He stopped at a roadside Burger King and, despite ordering something juicy and delicious, was served the most rotten meal he had ever eaten. Confronted by the horror of his food, he had a strong and sudden epiphany that something terrible was going to happen to him. He spent the next few years getting his life back on track and has since never looked back. He even got an unlimited BK Card from the company as a thank you.
