15 Upcoming Comic Book Movie Performances That Will Kick Ass

13. David Tennant As Mason Savoy

The Film: Chew

It's still a slight shame that there isn't going to be a live action Chew movie - at least not yet - but any adaptation of the iconic John Layman and Rob Guillory comic has got to be taken as a positive.

Originally, Robin Williams was cast to play fearsome juggernaut Mason Savoy in the adaptation but his death put paid to that and delayed the movie for a full year, despite stars Felicia Day and Steven Yeun already recording their parts. In place of Williams, Jeff Krelitz brought in David Tennant, whose voice-work in the likes of Fireman Sam and The Pirates has always been impressive (if a little unnoticed).

What's key is that Tennant is best when he's at his most theatrical (think Barty Crouch, Fright Night and Doctor Who), and Savoy requires exactly that. It's an incredibly charitable role to play, and the most rewarding on the cast (which is why Williams was so well suited), so Tennant has a lot to play with.
