8. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Half Shell
Release Date: June 3, 2016 Why It Could Suck: Because the original movie was a pretty embarrassing live-action interpretation of the iconic heroes in half-shells, so expectations are pretty low for more of the same here. Why It Might Be Surprisingly Awesome: For one, the first film's director, Jonathan Liebesman, is gone, replaced with Dave Green, who previously directed the solid kids sci-fi flick Earth to Echo. There are a few interesting casting additions, too: Laura Linney (!) appears in an unspecified role, Arrow star Stephen Amell is playing legendary Turtles character Casey Jones, and as the wild card of the bunch, Tyler Perry will be portraying the villainous Baxter Stockman (remember: he was great in Gone Girl). If the filmmakers listen to the first film's criticisms (namely that there's way too much of Mikey creeping on April), then this could easily be an action-packed, hilarious surprise. It's not very likely, but remember that while the guys writing this one also wrote the first film, they also wrote Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.
