15 Weirdest Movies Of 2016
5. Pride And Prejudice And Zombies
The book Pride And Prejudice And Zombies sold itself on the title alone, and the movie was hoping to do the same. It turns out it’s not easy to turn a gimmicky book into a feature-length film, and it took five years for it to come together, with directors like David O. Russell, Neil Marshall and Matt Reeves passing on it. Natalie Portman also dropped out of the lead role when they couldn’t find a good director.
That might explain the lack of energy on display in the final product, which is literally Pride And Prejudice with some zombies thrown in. It’s a weird brew for sure, but it’s neither funny nor gory enough to truly work.
The cast of exceedingly British people – including Game Of Thrones regulars Charles Dance and Lena Headey – look like they’re having some fun, but that energy doesn’t translate to the screen.
