10. Hector Hammond - Green Lantern

There are way too many legitimately great actors who've been forced to slum it as poor villains in bad movies over the years, and Peter Sarsgaard is definitely up there as one of the most egregiously misemployed.

He should have been a great bit of casting for the Green Lantern movie - just as Ryan Reynolds was, in fact - but the execution of the movie was rough from the get-go. And though there are some nice ideas in his characterisation (not particularly innovative, but nice all the same), the fact that his head looks like a massive testicle is just too off-putting.

He also has a dangerous lack of motivation (rule number one of supervillains) and it seems the film-makers were well aware, given that he's simply dropped out of the film before the final act.
