9. Mark Strong - Shazam!
After an underwhelming first few years, 2019 saw the DCEU produce possibly its best effort so far. Of course, Wonder Woman was fantastic, but Shazam! seemed to take the franchise to the next level. Having said that however, it certainly wasn't perfect, and one of the biggest downfalls was, surprisingly, Mark Strong's performance as Doctor Sivana.
While Lex Luthor and Steppenwolf stop Sivana from being the worst villain of the franchise, he is quite possibly the most forgettable. While not entirely Strong's fault, the usually top drawer actor gives one of his worst performances in recent memory, portraying the villain with no depth of character, or personality. For someone who has seven beasts tethered to him to obey his every command, Sivana just isn't an intimidating bad guy.
There are certainly worse performances in 2019, but Strong is so much better than what he gave to Shazam! As something of an expert when it comes to playing the despicable villain, the Green Lantern alum certainly didn't bring his A-game this year, particularly when compared to the way he brought to life the charismatic Jim Prideaux, and the terror-inspiring Lord Henry Blackwood.
