15 Worst Movie Performances Of 2019
8. Marwan Kenzari - Aladdin
Disney's long line of classic remakes grew a little longer in 2019 with the additions of Lion King, Dumbo, and Aladdin. With Will Smith tackling the legendary Genie, the latter was seemingly in line for the most criticism, and while the former Fresh Prince silenced just about all haters, there was one character in particular that stood out in a bad way.
Marwan Kenzari's Jafar was always going to be compared to Jonathan Freeman's from 1992, and there was simply no competition. Kenzari lacked the charisma and the screen presence required to truly bring to life such a character, and in no way sold Jafar as intimidating or threatening in the slightest.
The fault for the character's failings doesn't completely come down to the actor, since the soft spoken, handsome Kenzari should never really have been cast as the typically deep voiced, dark and twisted villain in the first place. However, with Smith knocking his performance out of the park, scrutiny passed on to Jafar, who was sadly one of the worst aspects of the entire movie.
