5. Taken 3
Rotten Tomatoes: 9%
Despite diminishing critical returns, Taken has squeezed extremely lucrative blood out of the once improbable stone of Liam Neeson's action hero renovation in an almost admirable fashion.
It's rather fitting that the third and (hopefully, but not assuredly) final instalment in the Taken franchise should so boldly attempt to humiliate its star. He admittedly only agreed to sign on to the first film because it represented a distraction and probably wouldn't amount to anything. It's not quite right to say he deserves this sequel, but it's not entirely wrong either.
Just as the Paranormal Activity films reduced into a series of silly jump scares with sparse plotting tying them together, Taken 3 is no more than an exercise in dredging. Olivier Megaton barely gets a performance out of his cast, and while Neeson does his usual butt-kicking, it's almost in a creative vacuum, like one stubborn old horse pulling a cart that's a long way past any reasonable use.
