15 Worst Performances In Star Wars Movies

12. Andy Secombe - Watto

Watto isn't the worst-written character in the Prequel Trilogy, but he is very annoying and while some of this due to him not being a very likeable character, Andy Secombe's highly irritating and over-the-top vocal performance also shoulders some of the blame. He was a little better in Attack of the Clones, but that was only a one-scene appearance.

The worst thing about Secombe's performance is the accent he puts on. Why did he have to play the character with a Middle-Eastern accent? Watto's an alien for crying out loud; he doesn't need to have a real-world accent.

Anyhow, partly because of this accent, Watto has come across as an anti-Arab and antisemitic stereotype for many over the years (when he has a beard and a hat in the second film he leans towards the latter) and he remains a rather uncomfortable character to watch as a result.
