15 Worst Performances In Star Wars Movies
8. Natalie Portman - Padme Amidala
The number of talented actors wasted in Star Wars is pretty shocking: Samuel L. Jackson. Max von Sydow. Andy Serkis. Forrest Whitaker. Benicio del Toro. Thandie Newton. Rose Byrne. Terrence Stamp. Joel Edgerton. Jon Favreau. Brian Blessed. Oliver Ford Davies. Hugh Quarshie. It's a long and sad list, but poor Natalie Portman is the most egregious example.
Natalie Portman was already a terrific young actress before this and she's always been great since as well, having won an Oscar only a few years after Revenge of the Sith, but she is pretty bad in the Star Wars prequels. She's very unconvincing and her entirely flat performance fatally under-mined both the love story with Anakin and Padme's death scene.
Portman has hinted that she regrets appearing in these movies, since after they were released according to her no director wanted to cast her and everyone thought she was a horrible actress. Of course, she's more than proved those impressions wrong in the years since, but even so, this is still a blot upon an otherwise stellar career.
