Christian has a clear issue with personal intimacy, in that he doesn't like being touched on his chest, due to childhood abuse he received, including a number of cigarette burns on his chest.

As such, there's a scene in the movie where he shows Ana exactly where his boundaries are, by using her lipstick to draw a square on his chest, instructing her to not touch him inside of those lines, but everything else is fair game.

As if this isn't weird enough, there's then a fairly awkward shower scene where she washes the lipstick off his chest, and he sternly instructs her not to stray from the lines.

If this was meant to be sexy, it failed horrendously.
