Almost was: Gamora Following TRON: Legacy and Cowboys And Aliens, two well-intentioned but ultimately messy (to varying degrees - the former still looks amazing) films, Olivia Wilde has all but shunned blockbuster movies in favour of more varied fare. Last year alone she was in Her, Rush and a handful of smaller indies. Not that Wilde hasn't been given the chance to go back to the massive budgets; before Zoe Saldana came on the scene she was offered the role of Gamora, only to decline it. You can imagine her version of the character would have been similar to Saldana's; her physique and background are closer to the actress cast than the likes of Gina Carano and Adrianne Palicki. Once Wilde, Gordon-Levitt and Momoa were all out of the running it's likely Saldana was cast in the role to bring some recognisability to a cast that was shaping up to be mostly TV stars.
