20 Actors Who Quit Movies For Insane Reasons

11. He Didn't Want To Wear Tights - Kurt Russell (Ladyhawke)

Kurt Russell was originally hired to star in his good pal Richard Donner's 1985 medieval fantasy film Ladyhawke, where he was set to play the heroic Etienne of Navarre.

But when it came to getting fitted for his character's costume, Russell had a sudden realisation, that he simply couldn't bring himself to wear tights for a role.

At this point he profusely apologised to Donner, telling him that he made a mistake accepting the gig, but rather than leave the production without one of its main actors, he immediately recommended Rutger Hauer, who he helped Donner secure.

In a surely awkward turn of events, Russell reportedly spent two weeks on set waiting for the negotiations with Hauer to be completed, at which point he was released and able to go home.

Ultimately Ladyhawke was a box office flop despite starring Hauer, Matthew Broderick, and Michelle Pfeiffer, and it's tough to picture Russell's presence changing much about that.
