20 Awesome Horror Movies That Never Got Sequels

Better Watch Out is one of those wonderful films that just came totally out of nowhere and quickly established itself as a Christmas horror classic.

Chris Peckover's film is best enjoyed without knowing much beforehand, considering how hard some of the story's more unexpected narrative beats hit.

It all ends on a blatant cliffhanger, though, teeing up a potential sequel which still hasn't materialised almost a full decade later.

Despite the popularity of Better Watch Out, Peckover surprisingly hasn't directed a single film since, even though he revealed back in 2022 that he has an idea for a sequel set years after the first.

As Better Watch Out was barely given a theatrical release and we have no idea how much money it's made on streaming, it's perhaps simply a case that it never turned a profit, even with a mere $3 million budget, and so nobody will bankroll a sequel.

While there's still a lot of potential for a sequel which picks up with our surviving hero and villain years later, it'd be foolish to expect this one to ever actually happen.
