20 Awesome Horror Movies That Never Got Sequels
6. Bubba Ho-Tep
First things first - if you've never seen Bubba Ho-Tep, just stop what you're doing and go watch it now.
Don Coscarelli's 2002 comedy horror film is an absolute riot, starring Bruce Campbell and Ossie Davis as Elvis Presley and John F. Kennedy Jr., who are still-alive residents of a nursing home that's assailed by an ancient Egyptian mummy.
The film's end credits did in fact tease a sequel, Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires, as a joke, but the positive fan reception caused Coscarelli to actually try and get it made.
The sequel was said to focus on the production of a lost Elvis film from 1950s or 1960s, and things got far enough that Paul Giamatti was even cast to appear alongside Campbell as Elvis' manager Colonel Tom Parker.
Giamatti loved the script, though in 2007 it all fell apart when Campbell dropped out, citing his own disappointment with said script.
Giamatti kept pushing for Bubba Nosferatu to get made regardless, suggesting that Ron Perlman could even take over the Elvis role, and though Coscarelli would still like to make it, it's safe to say that the ship has firmly sailed on this one.
