20 Awesome Horror Movies That Never Got Sequels

4. Fallen

Black Christmas 1974 Horror Movie Sequels

Fallen is one of the most underappreciated horror films of the 1990s, starring Denzel Washington as a detective pursuing a serial killer who turns out to be a fallen angel, Azazel, with the ability to possess humans through touch.

Thanks to Washington's gritty performance and Gregory Hoblit's stylish direction, this is one of the more memorable and effective attempts to ride the coattails of David Fincher's Se7en - a film which Washington ironically passed on.

Even though the film arrives at a bleak ending in which Washington's hero perishes while Azazel lives on, a follow-up to Fallen was never made, no matter the enduring popularity of movies about demonic possession, especially in the late '90s and early aughts.

Given how franchisable the idea of a body-hopping antagonist who can look like anyone is, Fallen 2 almost certainly never happened because the first film tanked at the box office, barely grossing half its $46 million budget.

If Fallen had performed like Se7en, then it likely would've been a different story altogether.
