20 Awesome Horror Villains Introduced In TERRIBLE Movies
4. The Cultists - V/H/S: Viral
You'll struggle to find a fan of horror anthology franchise V/H/S who doesn't think that 2014's third film, V/H/S: Viral, is far and away the worst entry in the series to date.
After two impressively consistent anthologies, Viral is a maddeningly slipshod affair, with all-but-one of its stories failing to raise the pulse at all, combining a series of largely lackluster scripts with the most technically messy filmmaking of the entire series.
The only exception is Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead's short "Bonestorm," where a group of skaters find themselves facing off against a cult, who after being killed are resurrected as skeletons to continue their assault.
The relentless cultists are genuinely terrifying, and this is the only segment in the entire movie which has any sense of sustained, intense energy - everything else feels so tired, played-out, and half-assed.
Though we don't end up learning much about the cult, their sheer physical presence makes them stand out in an otherwise unremarkable anthology.
