20 Awesome Horror Villains Introduced In TERRIBLE Movies

2016's The Boy is pretty much only remembered for its inspired, climactic bait-and-switch villain reveal.

For most of the movie we're led to assume that protagonist Greta (Lauren Cohan) is dealing with a possessed doll, Brahms, which appears to be haunted by the presence of the real Brahms - a young boy who died in a fire 20 years prior.

But at the end we learn that Brahms (James Russell) is actually very much alive and has been secretly living in the walls of his family home the entire time, having been behind all the apparently supernatural goings-on during the film.

It's a fun and genuinely diverting reveal, and frankly the mask-wearing, childlike Brahms makes for a more eerie antagonist than a goofy possessed doll.

But the rest of the movie leading up to Brahms' coming-out party is a maddeningly dull affair that borrows liberally from the haunted house playbook.

The less said about the sequel, which more-or-less retcons the original film and reverts to the whole cursed doll shtick, the better.
