2. Philip Seymour Hoffman’s Legacy
The world was left rattled after Philip Seymour Hoffman’s death in 2014, with many people mourning the loss. Hunger Games fans were among them, learning of the actor after his fantastic portrayal of Plutarch Heavensbee, Head Gamemaker and leader of the district rebellion.
Hoffman had filmed almost all of his scenes by the time of his death, and only two were rewritten to accommodate for his absence. When asked whether any CG manipulation was used to insert Hoffman into scenes he hadn’t filmed, director Francis Lawrence said that he had never even considered it as an option.
For one scene, where Cinna’s drawings are shown to Katniss for the final Mockingjay outfit, Plutarch Heavensbee was replaced by the character of Effie Trinket, as she was deemed the only other character fit for the job.
