As Quentin Tarantino is a fan of tying his characters together in a rich tapestry that transcends the boundaries of his individual films, it should come as no surprise that one of the Hateful Eight is related to a previously seen character. The finale of the slow-burning frontier whodunnit sees Jody's gang members all outed and their real identities revealed. The curiously accented Oswaldo Mobray (Tim Roth) is revealed to actually be cockney menace English Pete Hicox. That of course makes him a distant relative of Archie Hicox, the undercover British soldier who ends up with his balls shot off in Inglourious Basterds. Interestingly, Roth was actually in line to play the younger Hicox for Basterds before it went to Michael Fassbender.
