Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi co-direct and star in What We Do In The Shadows, perhaps one of the funniest horror-based mockumentaries of all time (although it perhaps lacks the quaint charm of the BBC's early effort for television, Ghostwatch). Here, suburban vampires living in Wellington, New Zealand are the subject for an intrepid camera crew. That What We Do In The Shadows was largely improvised is clear from the amount of fun the cast are clearly having - this is frequently silly and nearly always hilarious, and chances are you'll pick up on more one-liners and visual gags when watching it a second or third time around. Flight Of The Conchords regular Rhys Darby deserves a special mention as leader of the nocturnal lycanthropes, chastising his potty-mouthed brothers with the words, "we're werewolves, not swearwolves!" Clements has a role in next year's big screen adaptation of The BFG as Fleshlumpeater, yet another reason to look forward to Spielberg's much anticipated version of the classic Roald Dahl tale.
