20 Best Movie Blu-Rays Of 2016
1. Mad Max: High-Octane Collection
Apart from a few misguided naysayers who protested the movie’s female-led cast, Mad Max: Fury Road was a huge hit last year and went on to scoop no less than six Academy Awards including Best Costume Design and Best Film Editing. But the version we saw at cinemas wasn’t actually director George Miller’s preferred version. His favourite cut was a black and chrome edition that is now finally available in all its stunningly surreal glory on the Mad Max: High Octane Collection Blu-ray.
Alongside the black and chrome version, the six-disc collection features all four instalments of the Mad Max series from 1979’s Mel Gibson fronted original to the original colorized cut of Mad Max: Fury Road and several hours’ worth of bonus extras. A feature-length documentary on the making of the original Mad Max featuring over forty interviews with its cast and crew and a never seen before documentary on the series’ second instalment, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, are just two highlights.
