3. Hail, Caesar! – Channing Tatum’s Song & Dance Number

Arrival Amy Adams
Universal

It might’ve been the Coen Brothers biggest box office bomb since 2003’s Intolerable Cruelty, but critics loved Hail, Caesar! Brimming with beautiful period detail, the film admittedly works better if you’ve a little prior knowledge of Hollywood’s studio system – fixers, behind the scenes affairs, hush-hush pregnancies and the like – but there is an undeniable charm to their comedy homage of Hollywood’s Golden Age.

One of its best scenes sees Channing Tatum as a Gene Kelly-esque actor showing off the dancing skills he first revealed in Magic Mike albeit in a less risqué, old-timey tap dance fashion. Ripping on musicals like On the Town, Tatum prances around a stage set in full sailor garb singing the song ‘No Dames!’ in a hilariously camp and delightfully choregraphed piece of cinematic perfection.
