Yes, this is the second mention of The Last Jedi on this listicle but as one of 2017’s biggest films, we think it deserves another spot and besides this list wouldn’t be complete without including the confrontation between Snoke, Kylo Ren and Rye in the Supreme Leader’s throne room.

It’s a stunningly shot scene with the dramatic reds of the throne room serving as a perfect backdrop as Rian Johnson ramps up the tension between the trio before gobsmacking us all with Snoke’s shock death at the hands of his own protégé.

Although the decision to kill off Snoke before giving us his backstory irked many fans, it’s not every day you get to see a dude carved in half by a lightsabre. Plus, it set the scene for the momentary alliance between Kylo and Rey and they face off against Snoke’s crimson-clad Praetorian henchmen in one of the most electrifying lightsabre battles in the Star Wars universe. If Snoke had to die prematurely for this scene to unfold, then so be it.
