James Mangold’s critically acclaimed Logan is a superhero movie like no other. Gritty and violent but surprisingly heartfelt too, Logan was a blisteringly befitting swansong for stars Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart in their last outing as the X-Men characters they’re played for the past 17 years.

Alongside Jackman and Stewart’s powerhouse performances, the movie was positively brimming with memorable moments from viscerally violent action sequences to intimate, character-driven scenes but one of its most moving and beautiful moments came right at the end as we bid a fond farewell to Wolverine after he met his maker at the hands of his own feral clone.

Brutal but ultimately touching, we see Logan impart some words of fatherly wisdom to his clone daughter Laura before shuffling off his mortal coil and being remembered in a befittingly beautiful funeral by Laura and her fellow pre-teen mutants. And it was at that point in the movie that we all sobbed our hearts out like the big babies we are. RIP Wolverine.
