Rom-com slasher Heart Eyes certainly begins as it means to go on, with a quartet of gnarly kills that so perfectly establish the film's darkly comedic tone.

We open on a man, Patrick (Alex Walker), proposing to his partner Adeline (Lauren O'Hara) on Valentine's Day, all while their photographer Nico (Latham Gaines) watches from a distance.

After a few moments, however, Nico is stabbed through his camera lens with a huge machete by the Heart Eyes killer, before Heart Eyes turns their attention to the couple.

Here Patrick gets shot through the head with an arrow - like Cupid, get it? - before Adeline makes a mad dash to escape.

Adeline seeks refuge in a nearby winery where Heart Eyes kills a security guard by throwing a knife into his head, and she then hides inside a wine presser.

However, Heart Eyes finds her and turns the presser on, causing poor Adeline to promptly get violently pulped, her gory remains then pouring out the tank into nearby buckets. Lovely.
