Dangerous Animals
Shudder

Sean Byrne's criminally under-seen horror-thriller Dangerous Animals serves up an utterly savage pre-title sequence which so perfectly conveys the sadistic nature of serial killer Tucker (Jai Courtney).

The film begins with tourists Greg (Liam Greinke) and Heather (Ella Newton) approaching Tucker to take part in a shark cage dive.

Though Tucker has a superficial, laid-back Aussie charm, there's also a sly menace to his demeanour, especially when he details an incident from his childhood where he miraculously survived a shark attack.

Greg and Heather then do their cage dive and emerge unscathed, only for Tucker to suddenly pull a knife and stab Greg repeatedly in the neck, causing him to gush blood before Tucker shoves him back into the ocean.

Tucker then turns back to a stunned Heather, tells her, "Welcome aboard," and she screams before we cut to the title.

This is a perfectly nasty little appetiser that establishes Tucker's murderous M.O. before he comes into contact with the story's real protagonist, Zephyr (Hassie Harrison).
