20 Biggest Blockbuster Movie Showdowns Of All Time
16. The Infinite Runway - Fast And Furious 6 (2013)
After revitalizing the tiring franchise by bringing back the original cast and veering away from the series' street-racing origins with 2009's fourth installment, director Justin Lin then turned the Fast and the Furious into one of the biggest and most popular brands in Hollywood when he delivered the massively entertaining fifth movie that rejuvenated the series into a full-blown blockbuster action franchise. Upping the stakes once again, last year's Fast and Furious 6 offered one of the most ridiculously enjoyable finales in recent memory as team Toretto took on Owen Shaw and company against the backdrop of a seemingly-endless stretch of runway. With this being the Fast and Furious franchise, the rules of logic, gravity and physics are thrown out of the window in favor of a preposterously overblown extended set-piece that had audiences across the world grinning from ear to ear. If you're a fan of the franchise then the scene offers almost everything; hand-to-hand combat spanning numerous vehicles attached to a plane, The Rock jumping from said plane onto a moving car, Vin Diesel delivering a flying headbutt, and someone being harpooned out of existence are all present and accounted for, climaxing (pun intended) with a car literally ejaculating from the front of an exploding fuselage. While the untimely passing of Paul Walker will always bear heavy on any future movies, this climactic showdown encapsulates everything that makes the franchise so damn entertaining.
I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
