20 Biggest Movies Of 2015: What Do We Already Know?

5. Jurassic World

Who's involved? None of the team behind the original Jurassic Park trilogy are returning for this reboot. Director Colin Trevorrow made his debut feature, time travel indie Safety Not Guaranteed, for just $750,000, making the move to Jurassic World one of the biggest budget increases for a sophomore effort ever. In the absence of the likes of Jeff Goldblum or Sam Neill, the cast features star of the moment Chris Pratt (The Lego Movie, Guardians of the Galaxy), Bryce Dallas Howard (Spider-man 3, The Help), Ty Simpkins (Iron Man 3) and Vincent D'Onofrio (Men in Black). As for the dinosaurs involved, nothing has been revealed. What's the story? The latest Jurassic Park will acknowledge in its plot that twenty years have passed since the first installment. It has been suggested that the film will take place in a Jurassic Park that has been established and fully operational for a few years before something once more goes wrong. Paleontological consultant Jack Horner has promised the film will feature a new scary dino at its heart, while Trevorrow has stated that the movie's creatures will continue the design of the earlier films rather than adopting a feathered look. As for the human characters, Pratt is playing a rugged ex-military type and D'Onofrio is the film's villain.

4. The Good Dinosaur

Who's involved? Jurassic World won't be the only dino-movie of 2015, though, with Pixar pushing back the release of their own prehistoric adventure The Good Dinosaur to November of that year. Bob Peterson, an animator on the first Toy Story, writer on the second, and co-director of Up, developed the story and worked as director on it until summer of last year before being removed from the production. Currently The Good Dinosaur is being shepherded by the senior directors of Pixar's "Brain Trust." The voice cast includes Lucas Neff (TV's Raising Hope), John Lithgow, Frances McDormand and Neil Patrick Harris. What's the story? The Good Dinosaur is set in an alternative world in which the cataclysmic extinction event that wiped out the dinosaurs never occurred, allowing for that perennial film favourite of dinosaurs and humans living side by side. The story focuses on a family of giant apatosaurs, in particular youngest son Arlo (Neff) who must go on a quest to restore peace in his community and, along the way, forms a bond with young human child named Spot. While that plot may sound a little cliched, it's good to see Pixar pursuing more original storytelling instead of their recent trend towards sequels, especially when they have another film arriving in 2015 as well...
