20 Comic Book Movies That Are Practically Flawless

8. Black Panther (2018)

Captain America Civil War

T'Challa (the late, great Chadwick Boseman) was perhaps the most commanding breakout star from Civil War, thanks in equal measure to Black Panther's clashes with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Boseman's towering performance.

Few fans could have been prepared for what his solo outing had in store, though. Following T'Challa as he accepts his place as Wakanda's new king, the film forces the new leader to confront the country's relationship to the rest of the world as he faces off with the raging Erik Kilmonger (Michael B. Jordan).

Celebrating African culture in a beautiful way, Ryan Coogler's drama used its progressive representation and social discourse to paint a stunning portrait of loss, uncertainty, identity and power, whilst remaining a fantastic superhero origin story.

Black Panther is certainly one of the most important comic book movies ever made on a cultural scale, and one that demands to be seen again and again.
