20 Coming-Of-Age Movies That Are Totally Flawless
10. Little Women (2019)
The vast majority of coming-of-age movies tend to focus on boys and young men caught in a relationship that forever changes them, a fact that only helps to make Little Women that much more refreshing.
Flawlessly adapted from Louisa May Alcott's seminal novel by writer-director Greta Gerwig, Little Women follows the March sisters (Saoirse Ronan, Florence Pugh, Emma Watson, Eliza Scanlen) as they enter womanhood and its many complexities.
Shifting between lightly humorous and crushingly dramatic, the period drama tackles everything from love to equality, and family heartbreak to societal expectations, and does so without ever feeling heavy-handed or overstuffed.
This excellent execution, mixed with its formidably good cast and Gerwig's faultless direction, make Little Women a film surely no one can fail to fall for.
