20 Easter Eggs In Spider-Man Films You Didn't Notice

7. Reference To Special Effects Artist John Frazier (Spider-Man 2)

One of the subplots in Spider-Man 2 is Peter's inability to juggle his love for Mary-Jane with his responsibilities as Spider-Man. MJ eventually becomes exasperated with Peter after he misses her performance in The Importance of Being Earnest due to having to fight crime. During one scene outside the theater, where MJ is saying goodbye to one of her acting colleagues, we get a perfectly clear shot at one of the critical comments about the play, declaring that "J. Frazier is especially effective!" The wording might seem a tad clumsy for a presumably paid critic, but there's a reason behind that: it's a playful reference to legendary special effects supervisor John Frazier, who not only worked on all three Raimi Spider-Man movies, but also both of the Marc Webb movies to date.
