17. Extravagancies

Birthday parties. Prom. Graduation. Movies and TV have kind of ruined these experiences for us normal folk by building them up and blowing them out of proportion. Prom, specifically - I had a great time at my prom. I danced all night, took tons of pictures, and remember it like it was yesterday. There were no balloons that fell from the ceiling, no stretch limos for two couples, and certainly no dance-offs or ruining of anyone's time due to previous altercations. Put simply: nobody tried to destroy someone else's night. If anything, prom was the one night that no one messed with anyone else. Partly because of all of the chaperones (which there are way more in reality than in movies and TV), but also because everyone wanted to enjoy themselves more than make someone else feel awful. While some of these occasions are magical in their own rights, when they don't live up to the scene we watched earlier on the latest episode of Pretty Little Liars, we feel like we failed.
16. Being In Ridiculously Good Shape

Think of your favorite actor in their late 20s to early 30s. What does their body look like? Chances are, it looks amazing. So amazing that you almost wonder if it's even real. Oh, it's real. Real hard to get for the average person. The same thing goes for your favorite actress. Whether or not she's appeared nude or in bikinis, there is a really great chance that she's sporting a six pack under her tunic. We watch actors and actresses gain and lose weight in a matter of weeks, completely changing their figures and wonder why we don't look that good when we diet and exercise more than anyone we know. But it's because they have to be in shape. Their bodies don't belong to them. They belong to their agents, their producers, their directors, etc. The people who own their bodies pay for their bodies to look the way they look. While you and I have normal jobs that eat up eight hours (minimum) of our days, actor and actresses have entire days spent devoted to keeping in shape. They have nutritionists who get the best produce, the best recipes, all designed to keep them looking chiseled and desirable. Just because you don't look like your favorite doesn't mean you don't look awesome.
