5. West Side Story - Maria And Anita's Duet
Steven Spielberg's gorgeous West Side Story remake is full of stunning scenes, but it's this epic duet during the film's third act that will really make the hairs on your neck stand up.
In this scene, Maria (Rachel Zegler) and Anita (Ariana DeBose) argue over Maria's love for Tony (Ansel Elgort), who's just killed Maria's brother in a fight, and this confrontation takes the form of a duet in which the pair are essentially singing two different songs at the same time - and often sing over each other as well.
As it was in the original film, it's a fantastic bit of musical storytelling that's sent up to unbelievable highs by Spielberg's vibrant direction and the note-perfect vocal performances from both Zegler and DeBose, which really will give you goosebumps.
These two performances also really make one appreciate how much effort was put into finding actors who could really sing and dance for this movie, which is not something all modern Hollywood musicals have done (Mamma Mia!, anyone?).
In all honesty, this mesmerizing rendition trumps the equivalent scene of the original - that's just how great it really is.
