14. Dr Frank N. Furter - The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Tim Curry's performance as Dr Frank N. Furter is utterly iconic. He's just such an out there character who's unlike anything else really seen in movies, and it's hard to imagine a more jarring introduction than his first scene in the film. For most of Rocky Horror, Brad and Janet are the audience's identification characters, the people that they can relate to. After all, they're the normal ones. They're already pretty freaked out by the outlandish characters they meet within the walls of the castle, and then Frank pops out of nowhere (or more precisely, out of an elevator) and they just don't know what to do or where to look. Clad in heavy makeup, a tight corset, and fishnet stockings, Frank struts his way into the film, singing his campy classic, "Sweet Transvestite."
