Not to be confused with the Viggo Mortensen post-apocalyptic movie of the same name, this Filipino psychological horror is split up into five different segments: a Prologue and Epilogue bookending three distinct Stories. They start in 2008 and jump back a decade each time to reveal a larger story of a gruesome murder left undiscovered.

Some of the segments are more effective than others - occasionally it can feel like lots of different movies fighting to be the film's true identity - but they’re all brimming with a palpable sense of dread. And wonderfully, they tackle some interesting themes about, for example, nature vs. nurture and doing a very good job of intriguingly peeling away the layers of mystery one-by-one.
