Pretty much every year there's one Chinese movie that sneaks its way into the list of the highest-grossing movies, and this year it was Wolf Warrior 2, a wildly entertaining action flick that was so successful in China that it's currently the only non-Hollywood film in the top 100 highest-grossing films of all time.

Wolf Warrior 2 is one of the few non-Hollywood movies that actually manages to convincingly replicate its popular aesthetic, and though the CGI is pretty rough in places and the plot often diverges into flag-waving nonsense, it's nevertheless an outrageously entertaining show-piece for star-writer-director-producer Wu Jing.

Plus, there's added value for English-speaking audiences with the presence of Frank Grillo, who brings his usual grit to an obvious paycheck role.

The tone is all over the place, but if you're craving some popcorn entertainment from another corner of the world, this is a ton of fun.
